Vavul Mala is a peak in the Western Ghats in the Vellarimala range of Kerala, India. It is situated at the border of Malappuram district and Kozhikode district in Kerala. Vavulmala resembles to a “Camel Humb”. Situated at a height of 2,339m, it is the highest peak in the Western Ghats northwards beyond the Nilgiris and also the highest point of Kozhikode district.These compact hills are faunastically and florastically similar to Nilgiri hills.
At an altitude of 2340 metres above sea level, the tip of Vellarimala is touched by only the toughest of trekkers. The obstacles can be as big as elephants and as small as leeches. Olichucahattam is a waterfall along the way. It is also known as Vellarimala waterfall. It is a tall fall with less water volume. After monsoons, water fall reduces to a thin flow down the rocks. For trekkers, this is a resting spot after 6 kms hard core trek through the forest and up the hill. The trek starts from Muthappnpuzha, the village after Anakkampoyil.
Aripara Falls (alternate spelling: Arippara Falls) is a tourist spot in Anakkampoyil near Thiruvambady Town in Kozhikode district, Kerala. It is located on the Thiruvambady – Anakkampoyil route, 15 km from Thiruvambadi. The waterfall is a tributary of Iruvanjippuzha. There is a proposal for implementing a hydro power project on the Aripara waterfall.
